Frequently asked Questions & Answers:
What is the size of this Yoga Teacher Training? Spring training is capped at 12 students. Those waitlisted will have first “dibs” on the next YTT.
What styles of yoga will be covered in the training? We will explore Hatha Yoga which includes Asana, Pranayama, Diet and Meditation. Students will experience Levels 1/2 Gentle Flow Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yoga for Trauma, Children’s Yoga, Yin, Restorative. Upon graduation students will be prepared and able to teach Level 1-2 yoga and depending on their personal practice may also be ready to teach advanced levels. This training will meet you where you are and deepen the skills you need to be an excellent teacher on and off the mat. What you do with your training depends entirely on where your interest and skill sets lie. You will graduate with an ability to confidently lead students through a meaningful yoga class. If you seek specific certifications in any modality, this program will prepare you to pursue those goals as well as your 500 hour mastery.
What is the content of the training? Yoga Alliance is the credentialing board for yoga certification. This governing body has established 4 core competencies and divided the 200 hour training requirements into the 4 competencies as follows:
Anatomy/Physiology/Biomechanics (includes physical anatomy, chakras and koshas-energetic anatomy) 30 hours
Philosophy/Ethics/History (includes lineage, 8 limbs of yoga, Yamas and Niyamas, Ethical touch) 30 hours
Techniques/Teaching/Practice (includes asana, meditation, pranayama) 75 hours
Professional Essentials (includes practicum, teaching methodology, career strategies and classroom dynamic teaching skills) 65 hours
What if I miss a day of training? Will I still graduate? It is a requirement of Yoga Alliance, the credentialing body of yoga certification that you attend 100% of the trainings. I will have 2 make up days on Mondays- dates TBD. If you miss a day and can’t make up one of those Mondays, you will not graduate with your class, but you may join the Sunday training you missed next year with the 2021 YTT group.
What are the required readings for the training? What does the curriculum look like? Is there a syllabus? There is but one required book that you must have: Hatha Yoga Pradipika available on Amazon for $17.55. There are many other books we will use and will be available for you to peruse and borrow. There is a syllabus! There is a beautiful curriculum. I have worked hard to sculpt it all and prefer not to have that information published on my public website. After our phone interview, once all your questions have been answered and the two of us feel like we’re a great fit to embark on this sacred, playful journey together THEN you will receive an email with the book list, syllabus, etc. In the meantime, feel free to watch the short vids above that have basic outlines of how our time together will look and what it will produce.
